Kantrowitz, Goldhamer & Graifman, P.C., is currently investigating Center for Vein Restoration (“CVR”) regarding a data breach affecting the personal information of 446,094 patients and employees. CVR is a healthcare services company based in Greenbelt, Maryland, providing treatment in over 20 states for those experiencing various forms of vein disease.
On or about October 6, 2024, CVR first detected suspicious activity within its IT network. CVR notified law enforcement and launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party forensic experts. The investigation confirmed that hackers were able to access CVR’s network, as well as the confidential information of its patients and employees. Then, on December 5, 2024, CVR notified the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights of the data breach, and that the following sensitive information had been compromised:
- Full names
- Addresses
- Dates of birth
- Driver’s license and other ID information
- Social Security numbers
- Medical record number
- Medical information
- Financial and Health information
- Employment information
