According to LoHud.com, a 21-year-old man was injured in a truck accident on Route 202 in Ramapo on December 26.
The injured driver was trapped inside his 1992 Isuzu dump truck following the accident, which occurred around 2:23 p.m., near the intersection of Old Route 202. Emergency workers spent several hours trying to extricate him from the vehicle.
The driver suffered a leg injury and was taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, where he was treated.

Tractor-trailers weigh more than other vehicles on the road, so accidents often result in broken bones, spinal cord injuries and brain injuries. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles reported that there were 10,345 large truck accidents in 2012, resulting in 96 fatalities.
Common causes of truck accidents include driver fatigue, failure to follow safety regulations, poorly loaded cargo, alcohol or drug usage, aggressive driving, distracted driving, equipment failure and insufficient truck maintenance.
